The combination of shallow draft and meager deadrise causes her to stiffen up nicely when heeled. Ted Brewer specified, IIRC, 1,250 pounds in the shallow keel he added to the classic form, and the top-hamper was as reduced as much as practical, so there is enough static stability to keep things quiet enough in harbor. I have no big plans to sail Centennial across an ocean, but people do it in MeadowLarks (a Herreshoff predecessor to Centennial, also frequently built by Nick Vaitses) surprisingly often.
